Digital Mental Health Tool

Here’s something new that’s already available: The FDA recently cleared DaylightRx, the very first prescription digital therapeutic for generalized anxiety disorder. Think of it as CBT delivered through your smartphone over a 90-day program.

In clinical trials, DaylightRx demonstrated over 70% remission rates and significantly reduced anxiety in patients for up to 6 months or more Psychiatry Times. The app teaches evidence-based techniques including applied relaxation, cognitive restructuring, and exposure therapy—all tools I use in my practice.

What I find exciting about this is accessibility. For people who face barriers to traditional therapy—whether cost, location, or scheduling—digital therapeutics can be prescribed as an adjunct to usual care. The 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule even includes proposals to cover FDA-cleared digital mental health treatments.

Technology isn’t replacing the therapeutic relationship, but it’s creating new ways to deliver evidence-based care. That’s worth celebrating!
