Hello! I am Jason Abrahamzon, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)!

I am passionate about empowering people who are struggling with mental health and find their own path in life. We will help you move from where you are now to where you want to be.

I am passionate about working with people struggling with anxiety, creating meaning in life, and engaging with the here-and-now on a daily basis. I am certified and trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Grief, and Trauma therapy.

I also really enjoy providing therapy for fellow therapists and therapists in training! Helping other therapists grow in the profession and see them succeed is an amazing journey.

How my passion developed

I used to be an accountant and worked through my own issues of anxiety in intensive therapy. Doing my own work inspired me to go back to school and get my master’s in Clinical Counseling to help other with their mental health. I wanted to be a part of a client’s growth and journey in therapy.

I have many family members who are in the military and close friends which gives me a great respect and honor working with veterans in my area of Wisconsin.

My wife and I have been through multiple losses because of miscarriages. This pain and loss is unique and was overwhelming at first. I still continuously do my own work to engage my grief process and to help others go through their own unique process of loss.

Before starting counseling, I had no idea what to expect and people couldn’t tell me what to expect in therapy.  

As a result, I was really struggling with my own mental health. The stigma of going to mental health services and “not handling it on my own” really weighed on me. I had real fears of being shamed and appearing weak to others. I felt I couldn’t tell my family or friends. I didn’t know what to say or if they would understand.

To cope with this, I isolated myself from others because I was hurting emotionally and confused. “Why am I feeling this now? What happened to me?” is what I would ask myself. This led to deeper existential questions “Who am I? Who do I want to be?”

In retrospect, I realized that allowing myself to talk and engage in therapy gave me so much more meaning in life. I felt more connected than ever before with my authentic self.

I had to challenge the way I was taught to think of mental health and my own world. This was an important, difficult at times, but healthy part of my personal growth and development. I developed a sense of purpose to help others and journey with them to find their own greater meaning in life!

How I live out my passion as a therapist

I find great joy in walking with others in their therapeutic journey. None of our paths will look the same, but I whole heartedly value and respect the importance of having someone to walk with you on this road; wherever it will lead us.

I want people to know that counseling can be an amazing experience tailored to your own unique needs. There is no shame and judgement coming into therapy. We are all human and finding our own way.

The journey of exploring more about who you, who you wish to become, and what you could accomplish is something to embrace and celebrate!

How to help others

I understand that life is an ongoing process of development. The questions of “Who we are and who we wish to be” often carry with it feelings of shame, judgement, and anxiety when looking for help.

I want to help shift your perspective of mental health and to see it as an essential part of holistic health overall! In counseling you can grow and become more than you ever thought you could be and in doing so finding greater meaning and purpose in life!
